According the Diversity, Equity, Inclusivity and Global Committee of the Denver YMCA:
- In 2023, 16.1% of the people living in Denver were foreign-born
- The largest groups of immigrants came from India, Vietnam, El Salvador and China
- Since December of 2022, over 10,500 refugees have come from Venezuela, fleeing political and economic insecurity
- Denver has spent $16 million on resources for these newcomers; the State of Colorado has contributed $20 million
- Challenges for the newcomers include lack of health care insurance and affordable housing
- 13.3% of renters in Denver are immigrants; many immigrants are paying more than 30% of their income in rent.
